405 art residency

This website is an ongoing archive of the project 405 Art Residency.

Studio 405 is the working space of Fajrina Razak that serves as a multifunctional space for collaborative works with arts practitioners, artists, researchers, curators and art groups.

An artist-run initiative, this residency programme enables artists in the development of their practice while in a batik-making workspace.

The project is an initiative to support the development of artists with an openness to experimenting with the traditional batik medium. Through this residency, the works of the artists pays homage to the craft production and craftsmen in Singapore and the region. Artists enter the residency with their own material knowledge and skills; and in the long-term, the project hopes to culminate in a journey of innovation and incorporation of the batik medium, traversing into the artists’ own practices.
